What’s the difference between Health Coaching and the Community Health Education Clinics and Courses you offer?

Health Coaching: As a health coach, I work with you one-on-one to help you set and reach personal health goals. If you have specific things you want to improve or if you’re dealing with new health issues, I can support you in making those changes. I’ll help you use your own knowledge and skills to make steady improvements in your health and keep you on track.

Community Health Education Clinics and Courses: These are designed to give general information that can benefit everyone. They cover broad topics about maintaining our well-being and improving our brain health, based on what I’ve learned. This info is not personalized but aims to help the public understand how to be healthier over time.

When I hire you as my Health Coach, for how many weeks or months do we meet?

We can set up our meetings based on what works best for you. Typically, a three-month period is ideal to start. I focus on making small, steady changes rather than big, sudden ones because that’s what I believe is sustainable. Each session will leave you with clear, manageable steps to work on before we meet again. At the end of the three months, you can decide whether to continue working with me if you have more health goals or if you’re ready to wrap-up our coaching. We can adjust the time based on your needs.

If I wanted to get my friends, family, or colleagues together for a workshop, could you deliver one just for us?

Yes, I’d love to do that! You can get your friends, family, or colleagues together, and we can either meet on Zoom or, if you’re all in Hawai’i, I can come to you in person. We can talk about brain health, training with our physiology, or any other topic you’re interested in that I’m informed about and is in my scope of practice. We’ll chat beforehand so I can make sure the workshop covers what’s most important to your group.

What do a Health Coach and Client do together?

When you work with me as your Health Coach, we’ll meet regularly over three months, usually for about 20 minutes each time. In our sessions, we’ll check how you’re progressing with your goals, see how you’re feeling that day (since things can change), and plan your next steps. We’ll focus on the small changes you’re making to help you get healthier, and you’ll leave with a clear idea of what to work on next. What languages do you use to offer your health coaching and community health education?

At this time, I offer all my coaching and seminars in ASL or in English. I prefer to host separate sessions for each language to respect the unique ways of being of the people using each one.
