My Sweet Momma

top

Coach Jackie's momma in her teenage years, with a closed-lip smile and looking off to one side. A pic taken in a photo booth you'd find on a boardwalk or in the mall.

My mom's memory started getting worse in 2018, and in 2019, she was diagnosed with dementia, followed by early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. She was just 61. Her diagnosis changed my life completely. Watching my hero struggle with memory loss made me dive deep into learning everything I could about brain health, to see if we could save hers. Through my research, I discovered that dementia can actually be prevented. I now believe in taking steps today to make sure we all stay healthy in the future. It's never too early and almost never too late to make small changes that help keep our minds sharp.

Even with all our efforts, Alzheimer's has continued to have its way with my momma, and as of 2024, she is in the later stages of the disease. Although it was too late to prevent her decline, I know she would want you to take action now to prevent your own. I hope you find the information here helpful to live vibrantly, and stay healthy and clear-headed for years to come.
